Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Shehbaz Sharif has urged the federal government to summon an emergency session of the Council of Common Interests (CCI) to deal with the coronavirus.
In a statement, Shehbaz Sharif said that the government should take effective measures to prevent outbreak of coronavirus in schools across the country.
He also urged all parties to play a responsible role to ensure that citizens remain protected from the virus.
He said, “A campaign should be run for the safety and security of citizens.” He also urged the medical companies who manufacture masks and make medicines, to play a role during the crisis.
Shehbaz said, “To make a profit at the cost of human lives is the biggest injustice,” adding that the government should ensure masks are distributed for free or at a minimal cost.
Earlier On Wednesday, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Health Dr. Zafar Mirza confirmed that Pakistan had reported its first two cases of the coronavirus.
The coronavirus has spread to more than 45 countries causing the deaths of an estimated 2,800 people and affecting 80,000.
