ISLAMABAD: Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony has barred designated bank branches from receiving applications for government haj scheme 2020.
In a notification issued in Islamabad, the ministry announced suspending its orders of Feb 17 which had directed the banks to start receiving Hajj applications from Feb 24 to March 4.
It said the schedule of receiving hajj applications from intending pilgrims under Government Scheme has been revised and new dates would be announced shortly.
In clarification, the authorities said that all measures in this regard have been concluded but the process has been stopped due to technical issues.
Earlier this month government had declared Haj Policy 2020, a little rising the Haj cost as compared to 2019.
The cost of performing the ritual under the government scheme has been fixed at Rs490,060 for people in the northern region as compared to last year’s expense of Rs456,426. However, everyone wished to perform Haj will have to pay an additional Rs33, 634.
