LAHORE: Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has questioned the incumbent government’s decision to involve the intelligence agencies in crackdown against smuggling of food items and other goods.
Talking to journalists in Lahore today (Friday), Bilawal Bhutto questioned, “Will country’s intelligence agencies fight the terrorism or investigate rising inflation?”
Bilawal Bhutto further said that the incumbent government is sabotaging the Benazir Income Support Programme.
He said that the government was responsible for making the people unemployed with limited opportunities and badly affected economy.
He said that many people were not paying a tax which doesn’t mean that all of them were robbers, adding that the government should reform the tax system.
Bilawal Bhutto said, “Whenever PPP will in charge, the first thing our government will do is increase the salaries and pensions to empower the lowest segment of society.”
The PPP Chairman claimed that all policies of PTI-led government have only benefited the rich.
Bilawal also criticised the deal of IMF and the government and said, “What kind of a deal is this where the IMF representative came to Pakistan, spoke to State Bank head and decided the economic rights of the people?”, adding that PPP warned the government regarding their deal with IMF.
