BEIJING: Chinese and international health authorities on Wednesday urged to adopt extreme measures to control the epidemic as the death toll from the new coronavirus outbreak jumped to 2,000 in China.
As per reports, over 75,000 people have now been infected by the new coronavirus in Wuhan China; with hundreds of more cases were reported in several other countries across the globe.
The situation remains grave at the Wuhan, with the director of a hospital in the central city of the epicenter becoming the seventh medical worker to succumb to the COVID-19 illness.
Experts believe that the epidemic is intimidating to put a dent in the world economy, with China paralyzed by vast quarantine steps and major firms such as iPhone maker Apple and mining giant BHP warning it could spoil bottom lines.
On Tuesday, the National Health Commission of China said that the death toll from China’s coronavirus epidemic reached 1,868 on after 98 more people died.
