ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Wednesday directed the government to begin work on the Karachi Circular Railway (KCR) within one month and restore it within three months.
According to details, a bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Gulzar Ahmad heard a petition regarding railways losses.
Federal Railways Minister Sheikh Rasheed Ahmad, Planning Minister Asad Umar and other officials have attended the hearing.
The chief justice ordered the authorities to begin work on the KCR within one month in order to make it fully operational.
The chief justice questioned “Why are you giving the KCR to the Sindh government?” the top judge also remarked that the circular railway’s condition would be like the dilemma of transport in the metropolis.
The chief justice questioned, “Why the KCR was made a part of the CPEC”?. Replying to the question, the planning minister said that the steps were taken due to the current economic condition.
However, the Planning Minister Asad Umar argued that it would not possible to restore the project within in short time, to which, the chief justice remarked: “Make your people deliver”.
