ISLAMABAD: A delegation of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has reached in Islamabad for talks with authorities on the release of the third tranche of the $6 billion bailout package for Pakistan.
According to sources, the IMF delegation will hold talks with the Pakistani government officials on Monday (today) to discuss the country’s economic situation among other matters pertaining to the loan.
However, today’s round of talks will focus on briefing the IMF team on the tax collection by the Federal Board of Revenue, privatization program, power and gas tariffs, and other government’s policies for economic.
Pakistan will also be briefed about the measures to be taken to overcome the fiscal deficit and on increasing tax revenues.
The discussion will continue till February 13. The sources disclosed that Pakistan has already achieved the IMF’s target for the release of the development funds.
