HYDERABAD: All Pakistan Mineral Development Corporation (PMDC) Federation workers protest against the Sindh government and demanded that 116 employees fired from the Lakhra coalfield be restored.
The protesters staged a sit-in to denounce the Sindh government’s move and demand the restoration of 116 employees’ jobs. They announced that they would stay put until their demands were met.
Pakistan Mineral Development Corporation Lakhra Coal Mining project has been operating in Lakhra Coalfield in Jamshoro Sindh under the Ministry of Energy Petroleum Division Government of Pakistan Islamabad. The PMDC has invested millions of rupees and is paying a huge amount in royalty to FBR in wake of sales tax annually.
The protestors said, “Now the Sindh government has taken over it and has deprived 116 workers’ employment”. The protesters announced that they would take all legal steps to get their jobs.
They criticized and said due to the hostile policies and personal interests of the Sindh government, the Federally Administered project (PMDC) has been closed for a long time.
