ISLAMABAD: Pakistan government has declared national emergency to combat locust threat which are swarming all over the agriculture domain of the country.
PM’s Special Assistant on Information, Firdous Ashiq Awan has informed about this emergency on Twitter. She said that the decision was taken in a meeting, chaired by Prime Minister Imran Khan.
At the meeting, PM Imran said that the protection of agriculture and farmers was the foremost priority of the government.
A high-level committee has been constituted in this regard. FIrdous Awan informed that Secretary National Food Security Division would be the chairman of the committee whereas Chairman National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) would be its focal person.
