DAVOS: Prime Minister Imran Khan has ruled out the possibility of immediate war between Pakistan and India, however, he said that international powers including United States and United Nation ‘must act’ to prevent tension between the countries.
Talking to International Media Council in Davos Today (Wednesday), PM Imran said, “When I became Prime Minister, I telephoned Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and asked him to let both countries invest the money on eliminating poverty instead of investing on enmity,” adding that the response from Modi was “really strange”.
PM Imran said that due to the flawless policies of Modi, India is moving towards extremism, adding that India might attempt to raise tensions at the border in order to divert attention from domestic protests against two government measures that have been criticised as anti-Muslim.
Responding to Kashmir’s issue, PM Imran said that over eight million people are forced to live prisoners’ life due to the lockdown in Indian occupied Kashmir by India.
He further said, “We will continue to provide moral, political and diplomatic support to the Kashmiri people until they secure their inalienable right to self-determination,” adding that the Kashmir issue should be resolved in accordance with relevant UNSC resolutions.
He said that one should not even think about a conflict between two nuclear-armed states owing to the devastation it would create across the world.
Commenting on war on terror, PM Khan said that the war on terror left 70,000 people dead as Pakistan was considered one of the most dangerous places in the world.
PM Imran said, “Our government decided not to become part of any conflict.”
The premier said that Pakistan played its part in resolving conflict between Saudi Arabia and Iran, and further stated that Pakistan is also participating to facilitate Afghan peace process.
