KARACHI: Anti-polio campaigns kick-off in Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa today (Monday).
According to District Health officer Tharparkar, Dr Irshad Ahmed Memon five day anti-Polio campaign begins in Tharparkar today.
He said 171 mobile teams have been deputed to administer anti-polio drops to below five years of age children in the nine high-risk Union councils of the district. He said foolproof security steps have been taken for the security of the anti-polio teams.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Provincial Health Department officials told that the anti-polio drive starts in the province and will be launched in the eight districts include Swabi, Buner, Charsadda, Mardan, Nowshera, Malakand, Swat and Mohmand, where more than two million children below the age of five years will be administered anti-polio drops during the campaign.
At least 7800 teams have been formed to administer the anti-polio drops to the children. The provincial administration has tightened security for polio vaccinators while the health authorities have been keeping the secrecy of the areas where the anti-polio campaign is being carried out to avoid any untoward incident.
