KARACHI: Professor Dr Arif Zubair on Tuesday assumed office as acting vice-chancellor of the Federal Urdu University of Arts, Science and Technology (FUUAST) and vowed to run the varsity in proficient manners.
Earlier, He has been appointed by President of Pakistan, Dr Arif Alvi, who is also the chancellor of the varsity, presided over the meeting via video link.
While Federal Education and Professional Training Additional Secretary Muhammad Saleem Ahmad Ranjha, Secretary to President Humaira Ahmed, President House Director-General Sohail Akhtar Malik, Fuuast Senate Deputy Chair Javid Ashraf Hussain, Higher Education Commission of Pakistan representative A Q Mughal, Anjuman-e Taraqqi-e Urdu president Wajid Jawad and other Fuuast Senators were in attendance.
During the meeting, the chancellor approved the recommendation of FUUASTt Senators that Professor Dr Arif Zubair should be appointed the varsity’s VC for six months.
A good number of faculty members, students and non-teaching staff warmly welcomed Professor Dr Arif Zubair at the administration building in Gulshan-e-Iqbal. Addressing on the occasion, the acting VC urged all teachers and students to work together for the betterment of the university.
