LAHORE: An anti-terrorism court (ATC) has extended the interim bail of lawyer Hassaan Niazi, nephew of Prime Minister for 9 days in the Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC) attack case.
The ATC judge extended Hassaan Niazi and nine other lawyers and directed all the accused to appear before the investigation officer for their photographic test. During the hearing, the officer notified the court that a forensic lab has been provided with video clips and images for the test of the incident.
In a previous hearing last week, the ATC court cancelled Niazai’s interim bail as he appeared late before the court but later on that day he was granted fresh interim bail after apologising to the court and assuring that he would not repeat such irresponsible in the future.
Niazi was booked in the PIC attack that occurred in December 2019. The police conducted raids at his residence twice but no one was found.

A violent clash erupted between hundreds of lawyers and doctors on 14th December that left 4 patients dead and 25 injured in the PIC hospital of Lahore. At least 52 lawyers were arrested after the attack.
Niazi in his claim stated that his support was limited to the initiation of legal action against the doctors but videos that went viral on social media showed him actively participating in the protest.
