KARACHI: Madrassahs or religious seminaries in Pakistan have gained a bad reputation due to several unfortunate events and imparting extremist education.
However, Jamia Bait-ul-Salam’s students stood out during an educational competition held at HITEC University, Taxila. The students of the madrassah recently won in various competitions held at the university setting an example that madrassa students and giving a reason to be proud of making it to the news.
The students won Urdu speech and Spelling Bee competition. They also aced the robotics competition beating twenty other universities. This show that madrassah students can compete with and challenge regular students.
This will shatter the stereotype regarding the children receiving religious education from madrassas instead of going to normal schools. Jamia Bait-ul-Salam is a excellent example of the combination of religious and worldly education.
