Australia’s captain Tim Paine on Wednesday said Australia could play five dedicated bowlers against New Zealand during the second Test.
He said the Melbourne Cricket Ground track has been inert during the past two Boxing Day Tests, adding that making it hard to take 20 wickets, even though a Sheffield Shield match there this month was deserted due to a risky pitch.
Paine said keeping the situation a decision would only be made after a late inspection. He added on an aspect could be a five-pronged cleft attack in which Queensland seamer Michael Neser likely makes his qualm.
He hoped and said “We’ll find out tomorrow. The wicket is a little strange but we’ve divided a strategy in place for both aspects.
