RAWALPINDI: Three soldiers of the Pakistan army were martyred and another was injured in an improvised explosive device IED blast in North Waziristan tribal district today.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the incident took place when the soldiers were on a routine patrol.
ISPR in a statement said, “IED blast in North Waziristan district. Three soldiers of patrolling team embraced shahadat, one soldier got injured.”
The ISPR added that the explosion site was enclosed and a search operation was in progress.

The martyred soldiers were identified by the ISPR as Sepoy Sajid, Sepoy Riyasat and Sepoy Babar.
The district was one the seven tribal districts in FATA,Bajaur, Khyber, Kurram, Mohmand, North Waziristan, Orakzai and South Waziristan before its merger with Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP).
Pakistani forces have conducted a series of operations against militant groups in the tribal districts of KP over the years.
