ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Thursday said the government is making efforts to ensure surplus availability of daily use commodities.
Chairing the meeting regarding price control and availability of daily use items, the prime minister’s said it is the state’s responsibility to ensure that no one goes hungry.
The prime minister said it is the government responsibility to ensure availability of food items in market and to control its prices so that people with less income afford their household expenses easily.
Special Assistant on Poverty Alleviation Dr Sania Nishtar briefed the meeting regarding steps taken to facilitate the underprivileged segments of the society.
Tourism policy
Meanwhile, while chairing a meeting regarding promotion of tourism, the prime minister said Pakistan has enormous tourism potential which needs to be utilised.
PM Imran Khan said better recreation facilities will be available to the citizens of Pakistan and will also attract large number of tourists from across the world.This will promote various sectors linked to tourism and create job opportunities for the youth.
The prime minister was apprised that for the first time, a national tourism strategy 2020-30 has been evolved.
Utilising state-owned properties
In a separate meeting, Prime Minister Imran Khan expressed the government’s commitment to fully utilise the state-owned properties for the welfare of the masses.
Chairing a meeting regarding the use of state land in Punjab for welfare purposes, the prime minister said the income to be generated from the dead assets will be used to speed up the economic activity and create job opportunities.
The prime minister directed the Punjab Cooperative Board for Liquidation to expedite efforts for the early disposal of cases pertaining to its properties.
