PESHAWAR: The government of Canada on Tuesday gifted around 500 bullet proof vests and helmets to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police.
According to media reports, a ceremony was organized under the aegis of UNODC at the residence of Chief Minister. Canadian High Commissioner Wendy Gilmour had also attended the ceremony where he gifted helmets and 500 bullet proof vests to Inspector General (IG) KPK, Dr. Muhammad Naeem.

KPK’s minister for Law, Sultan Muhammad and minister for Information, Shaukat Yousafzai also attended the ceremony. Both ministers expressed gratitude for the gifts from Canadian government.
On the occasion, the minister for Law thanked government of Canada for their cooperation in restoring peace in the country. He also said that law enforcement agencies along with the people have made numerous sacrifices to bring peace in Pakistan.

Shaukat Yousafzai also added that Torkham Border has been opened to facilitate people on either sides of the border round the clock, despite many difficulties. He further said that religious tourism is promoted in the country after the betterment of law and order situation in Pakistan.
On the other hand, Canadian High Commissioner also lauded the efforts Pakistani government and forces have made to establish peace. IG KPK also thanked Canadian government for helping KP police in various sectors.
