HYDERABAD: Three drivers of the Pakistan Railways died when a passengers train collided into a goods train about two kilometres from Hyderabad station on Thursday.
The accident happened at around 5.15 pm, when Jinnah Express collided into the goods train going to Yusufwala in Punjab. Three bogies of the goods train were derailed and engine of the Jinnah Express was destroyed and a section of the track was damaged.
Railway authorities reached to the sight of the accident and mobilized machinery, to clear the debris. The cause of the accident has not been determined yet. Jinnah Express was taken to Kotri station, and the passengers stayed there for almost 3 hours.
The deceased were identified as Aslam Chandio, driving Jinnah Express. The other 2 deceased were identified as Syed Noman Ali & Yasir Bashir, assistant drivers. While the injured was identified as Ali Imran, guard at goods train.
Soon after the accident, labourers started working on the track to clear debris. According to a spokesman for Pakistan Railways, Railways Minister Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed ordered an inquiry and directed the CEO Pakistan Railways to reach Karachi in this connection.
