The famous Pakistani actress, Mehwish Hayat revealed that she will be playing Benazir Bhutto in a biopic.
The Pakistani diva further confirmed the news saying she likes to play characters with a lot of depth and strength and this is why she is excited for her upcoming project.
Mehwish Hayat also showed her admiration and said, “I love Benazir Bhutto” adding, “She was the first woman prime minister of Pakistan. That’s such a great thing. People need to see and know more about Benazir.”
The Pakistan star also added that, “Things are written in books and people do read them. But film is another medium altogether,” she said. “Our generation needs to know more about Benazir.”
When asked why she did not sign films in Bollywood, she revealed that film-makers do not cast her because she speaks the truth.
The actress also said that she had been pinpointing the negative image of the country in Hollywood and Bollywood movies for a long time.
Mehwish Hayat also added that, “I’d rather speak the truth and not get cast in their films”, she said. “This is not something that I’ve said right now. I’ve been saying this all along. Maybe because of the current crisis, this has amplified so much. This has been my stance since day one.”
The Pakistani diva also encouraged film-makers who were portraying negative picture of Pakistan in their films to visit the country and see what Pakistan is all about.
“Come and see for yourselves what a peaceful country and what a peace-loving nation we are” adding, “We are famous for our hospitality around the world.”
In the interview, Mehwish Hayat also addressed the criticism she faced after receiving Tamgha-e-Imtiaz.
She said that, “The size of your mentality and your mind matters” adding, “Your mind should be big enough to fit both my Tamgha-e-Imtiaz and Billi song.”
