ISLAMABAD: An accountability court has reserved its verdict on a petition filed by former president Asif Ali Zardari for his transfer to a hospital from the Adiala Jail.
Latif Khosa, the counsel for Asif Ali Zardari, argued before the court that his client’s life was in danger and it was his constitutional right to avail medical facilities in jail.
The advocate said, “Zardari doesn’t want anything from this government, but his legal rights must be ensured we hadn’t asked for an apology from even Zia-ul-Haq.”
He mentioned, “Judicial relief is our right if Zardari suffers any kind of heart ailment, these people won’t transfer him to a hospital it takes an hour-and-a-half to reach a hospital from the Adiala Jail.”

He further said, “A medical board had recommended shifting Zardari to PIMS for getting medical care and these people took him to the hospital just for a day and shifted him back to the jail on the very next day.”
Zardari was arrested on June 10 for his alleged involvement in the money laundering case. National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has accused him of owning shares of the Zardari Group, a company that received some of the embezzled funds.
The Park Lane Estate, on the other hand, is a Karachi-based real estate firm. NAB had initiated an inquiry against Zardari and his son, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, on charges that they illegally transferred forest land to the firm in collaboration with some government officials.
