ISLAMABAD: The special court has been pleaded by the Defence counsel of former president Pervez Musharraf for meeting the accused before recording his statement in the trial against him.
According to details, Justice Nazeer Akbar and Justice Shahid Kareem heard the high treason trial case.
The government’s appointed defense counsel Raza Bashir asked the court to direct the ministry for an arrangement of his meeting with Musharraf.
Justice Nazar Akbar of the two-member bench told the council that the time to record the statement of the former president under Article 342 has been passed.
Justice Nazar Akbar said, “You have been appointed under the law to provide assistance to the court.”
The judge asked the defense lawyer. “Why you have submitted the petition, you were given one month for preparation.” The Judge added that the court would not grant any further adjournment.
The council was asked by Justice Shahid Karim to start his final arguments in the case.
Justice Nazar Akbar said, “If you are not initiating arguments the bench will write it in its order.” The court later adjourned the hearing until 8th October.
General Musharraf was booked in a treason case in December 2013. He was indicted on 31st March 2014 in the case of suspending the Constitution by proclamation of emergency on 3rd November 2007. He left for Dubai in 2016 to seek medical treatment and hasn’t returned since.
