FAISALABAD: A 14-year-old teenager died due to the dengue fever virus at Allied Hospital on Wednesday.
The patient, identified as Aryan, was brought in from Rawalpindi by his family five days ago. Since then, he had been under treatment in the hospital.
As per details, apart from Aryan, three other patients including two sisters have also been found infected with the same virus.
Seven other patients are undergoing treatment in Allied Hospital’s isolation ward. So far in the district, 4,000 people are suspected to have the virus.
This is the first death due to the virus in Faisalabad this year. The toll of patients admitted to the Allied Hospital, this year has jumped to 27.
According to reports, more than 1500 cases of dengue fever have been reported so far in Islamabad. Earlier in July, 11 people were diagnosed with the dengue virus in Rawalpindi after rains.
Recommended precautionary measures include being cautious of mosquitoes during dawn and sunset hours, elimination of stagnant water and breeding sites, using mosquito lotion, ensuring good hygiene during food preparations, disposing of food safely and avoiding non-essential visits to hospitals.
