ISLAMABAD: An accountability court has reserved its verdict over the petition filed by former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi seeking facilities at Rawalpindi’s Adiala prison.
Khaqan Abbasi is already serving in prison in the liquefied natural gas (LNG) case.
The accountability court’s judge Muhammad Bashir resumed the hearing of the petition. The hearing was attended by a sister of Khaqan Abbasi and Barrister Zafarullah Khan.

The officials from the Adiala Jail presented a medical report of the Abbasi. They said that the jail authorities have decided to undergo medical tests of him.
Former prime minister’s sister Sadia Abbasi appealed the court that he wanted to undergo his medical tests from a hospital of his own choice.
During the hearing, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) prosecutor opposed providing a laptop to Abbasi in his prison cell.
After the conclusion of the arguments, the court reserved its verdict over the petition.
Khaqan Abbasi was arrested by the NAB on 18th July in a multi-billion-rupee case related to the award of the LNG import contract.
According to sources from NAB, Abbasi in 2013, granted LNG import and distribution contract to the Elengy Terminal in violation of the Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (PPRA) rules and relevant laws.
