ISLAMABAD: A local court on Monday rejected Imran Khan’s plea, seeking exemption from personal appearance, in a case related to threatening female judge Zeba Chaudhry.

Imran Khan was booked in a case for threatening judicial magistrate Zeba Chaudhry and police officers at a rally in F-9 Park on August 20 last year, on charges of “terrorizing” police officials and the judiciary. His remarks were made after the female judge granted physical remand of Khan’s Chief of Staff Shahbaz Gill despite claims that he was brutally tortured in custody.
Civil Court Judge Rana Mujahid Rahim conducted the proceedings today during which Imran Khan’s lawyer Naeem Panjutha appeared in court. His lawyer, apprising the court of security threats for Khan, filed a peal seeking exemption from appearance.

However, Judge Mujahid Rahim said he would issue arrest warrants if Khan failed to appear today during court timings, and reserved the judgement on his exemption plea for 12:30pm.
Later the judge announced the verdict, rejecting the exemption plea, ordering Imran Khan to appear during the court timings or else his arrest warrant would be issued.
