KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) has summoned the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC)’s administrators today on the issue of stray dogs.
In this regard, the administrator of the local government has been by the SHC to present a progress report on 7th November.
The health department of Sindh was also asked to present their reports on the ongoing issue of stray dogs in Karachi.
The SHC ordered the health department to provide the anti-rabies vaccine in all districts of the province.
The city government and District Municipal Corporations have also been directed to form task forces to deal with the issue of stray dogs.
The court criticised the local government administrator and other authorities for their lack of progress on stray dogs’ issues.

According to the court ruling, if any person gets bitten by a dog in any area then the deputy commissioner of that area will be held responsible.
The city government was asked about its progress on following America’s model of dealing with stray dogs.
The court asked the municipal commissioner on whether hospitals had enough vaccines to treat dog bite cases, to which he replied he cannot guarantee that.
The court has ordered the authorities to do everything in their power to get rid of stray dogs.
The SHC ended the ruling by stating, “Rent cars to catch stray dogs on an immediate basis. Get rid off them.”
