Former Pakistan captain Sarfraz Ahmed has once again demonstrated his leadership skills, this time off the field, by guiding the Pakistan Under-19 cricket team to a remarkable victory in the ACC Under-19 Asia Cup.
His mentorship and managerial role have drawn widespread praise in cricketing circles.
Sarfraz Ahmed is regarded as one of Pakistan cricket’s most successful leaders, having led the national team to its first-ever Champions Trophy win in 2017 by defeating arch-rivals India. He has captained Pakistan in Test, ODI, and T20 formats, earning recognition for his fearless approach, strong decision-making, and trust in young players.
Since retiring from international cricket, Sarfraz has focused on nurturing young talent. Appointed as the manager and mentor of the Pakistan U19 team, his guidance was credited with the team’s outstanding performance in the Asia Cup, where they defeated India in the final by a margin of 191 runs to claim the title.
This marks Pakistan’s second U19 Asia Cup win; previously, the 2012 edition was shared between Pakistan and India.
Following the victory, Pakistan Test captain Shan Masood praised Sarfraz Ahmed and the coaching staff for their role in the team’s success.
On social media, Masood wrote that the young players displayed fearless cricket, maturity, confidence, and excellent teamwork, proving their ability to perform under pressure. He added that Sarfraz’s mentorship was key to guiding the players and enhancing their skills.
