Following the cancellation of the Red Notice against Muns Elahi, Interpol has also officially withdrawn the Red Notice against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Zulfi Bukhari and confirmed the closure of all investigations against him. This development is being seen as a major setback for Pakistan’s Ministry of Interior.
According to media reports, Pakistan’s request for Bukhari’s extradition was rejected by Interpol. In a letter sent to Bukhari’s legal team, Interpol stated that after a detailed review of the information and evidence provided by Pakistan, it had decided to cancel the Red Notice.
Around two years ago, Pakistan’s Ministry of Interior had approached Interpol to issue Red Notices against both Muns Elahi and Zulfi Bukhari.
Bukhari was accused of allegedly participating in disruptive and terrorist-related incidents during PTI founder Imran Khan’s judicial complex appearance and was also listed as wanted in the Al-Qadir Trust case.
Last month, Interpol had similarly cancelled the Red Notice against Muns Elahi, citing insufficient evidence after reviewing Pakistan’s complaints.
Elahi had faced allegations of corruption during the PTI government and involvement in a murder case in Gujrat after leaving the country.
The recent decisions provide significant relief to both Zulfi Bukhari and Muns Elahi, while dealing a blow to the Ministry of Interior’s attempts.
According to their lawyers, they successfully demonstrated that the allegations of corruption and terrorism were politically motivated and aimed at political revenge rather than justice.
