Politicians horrified at harassment of TikToker at Minar-e-Pakistan

Many Pakistani personalities including politicians and celebrities have condemned the horrific incident that took place in Lahore where a woman was harassed by almost 400 men at Minar-e-Pakistan.

The female TikToker named Ayesha Akram was assaulted by a massive crowd at the city’s Greater Iqbal Park. Her video of her being harassed went viral on social media, leading to an outpouring of rage. Many politicians including Bilawal Bhutto Zardari tweeted and condemned the act, also demanded justice.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Zulfi Bukhari said in a tweet that Prime Minister Imran Khan had taken notice of the incident of insulting a woman in Lahore and ordered the IG Punjab to arrest the accused.

According to Bilawal Bhutto, the assault of young women by a mob at Minar-e-Pakistan should shame every Pakistani. “It speaks to rot in our society,” he posted.

Shireen Mazari condemned that certainly effective implementation of our laws will have some deterrent effect but mindsets also have to change to stop crimes against all vulnerable mbrs of our society. 

MoHR is in touch with Punjab authorities to ensure strict action ag perpetrators of the condemnable attack on a woman in Greater Iqbal Park Lahore. Arrests made, FIRs done. MoHR following up. But we need to try & change such violent behavioral patterns in our ppl. #lahoreincident
