LAHORE: Leader of the Opposition in National Assembly and PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif has tested negative for COVID-19 on Sunday.
The opposition leader has recovered from the disease, PML-N spokesperson Maryam Aurangzeb confirmed the news. She said the result of Shehbaz Sharif’s COVID-19 test has come back negative.
“By the grace of God and the nation’s prayers, Shehbaz Sharif has tested negative,” she added. On June 11, the PML-N president contracted the novel COVID-19. He quarantined himself at home.
On Saturday, head of the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Karachi chapter and member of the Sindh Assembly Khurram Sher Zaman had announced that he had tested negative for COVID-19.
The PTI provincial lawmaker took to Twitter to make the announcement. He said that he had tested negative for the virus after suffering from it for the last four weeks.

In his statement, Khurram Sher Zaman thanked all those who prayed for his recovery. He also expressed his gratitude towards President Arif Alvi, Prime Minister Imran Khan and Governor Sindh Imran Ismail for inquiring about his health during his ailment.
He also asked the citizens to take precautionary measures to avoid contracting COVID-19. The PTI leader also announced to donate plasma soon.
Earlier, a total of 97 politicians, including 86 lawmakers from the country’s national and provincial assemblies, tested virus-positive while six lost their lives since the outbreak of the COVID-19 in Pakistan.
The politicians who tested positive belong to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and various other political parties.
