ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has expressed determination to restructure the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, following an operation at the CTD compound in which 25 terrorists were killed, two arrested and seven surrendered when security forces stormed the besieged area.

In a statement issued to media here on Wednesday, Shehbaz Sharif said the primary responsibility for law and order lies within the ambit of provincial governments but the federation cannot turn a blind eye to these serious problems. “We will work together with provinces to fight terrorism, increasing the capacity and efficiency of the provincial government is important in the eradication of terrorism,” he said.
While condemning the attack on the CTD office in Bannu, he said attempts to spread chaos in Pakistan through terrorism would be strongly crushed, adding that and the scourge of terrorism was a sensitive issue of national security and collective thinking and action plan were needed to combat it.

Shehbaz Sharif said his government wanted to improve professional capabilities of provincial anti-terrorism forces and that the state would not bow down to any terrorist group or organization, rather terrorists would be dealt with as per law and constitution.
