ISLAMABAD: Former finance minister Ishaq Dar said that the Transparency global report has declared Pakistan more corrupt than it was.
Ishaq Dar posted a tweet in which he highlighted the Corruption Perception Index (CPI) of Pakistan and blamed the incumbent government.
He wrote, “Transparency Int’s Report 2019 declares Pakistan more corrupt than before with worst ranking from 117 to 120 in 2019. CPI score dropped from 33 to 32. Since 2010, this is the first time Pakistan did worse than the previous. So-called honest and handsome be ashamed.”

Pakistan witnessed a drop in a ranking by three places (117th in 2018) and also scored a point lower, as compared to 33 points scored in 2018.
Pakistan managed to score only 32 points and was ranked at 120th spot among 180 countries.
Last year, Pakistan’s ranking stood at 117, the same as in 2017, although its score had slightly increased to 33.
The CPI uses a scale from 0 to 100, in which 100 is very clean and 0 is highly corrupt. Shockingly, two-third of 180 countries have scored below 50, whereas the average score is 43 out of 100.
