The third review talks for the fourth tranche of the $7 billion loan program between Pakistan and the IMF will begin today.
The IMF team will begin technical-level talks with the State Bank of Pakistan in Karachi, after which policy-level talks will be held with officials of the Ministry of Finance.
According to sources, the IMF mission will review the economic performance and progress towards the set targets during the first half of the current fiscal year (July to December).
The mission will be given a detailed briefing on tax reforms, the energy sector, monetary policy, and foreign exchange reserves.
Pakistan is facing a shortfall of Rs 330 billion in tax revenue; Pakistan will inform the IMF about the progress in the privatization program, including PIA.
