Netflix is set to bring Jane Austen’s beloved classic back to life with a brand-new adaptation of Pride and Prejudice, slated for release this fall.
The streaming giant has dropped the first teaser of the highly anticipated six-episode series, offering viewers an early glimpse of what promises to be a fresh retelling of the timeless story.
Leading the cast are Emma Corrin and Jack Lowden, who will take on the iconic roles of Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy, respectively.
The series is connected to author Dolly Alderton, known for her acclaimed work Everything I Know About Love, who expressed her enthusiasm about being part of the project. “Once in a generation, a group of people get to retell this wonderful story, and I feel very lucky that I get to be a part of it,” Alderton said.
At the helm of the production is Euros Lyn, the director behind the popular Netflix series Heartstopper, bringing his signature storytelling style to this classic adaptation.
The series features a stellar supporting cast, with Oscar-winning actress Olivia Colman and Rufus Sewell portraying Mr. and Mrs. Bennet.
Further rounding out the ensemble are Freya Mavor as Jane Bennet, Daryl McCormack as Mr. Bingley, Louis Partridge as Mr. Wickham, Jamie Demetriou as Mr. Collins, and Fiona Shaw as the formidable Lady Catherine de Bourgh, among others.
Pride and Prejudice is expected to be one of Netflix’s most talked-about releases of the season.
