Foreign terrorists attacked PSX building: CM Murad Ali Shah

KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has said that six more people have died from novel COVID-19 during the past 24 hours in Sindh, taking the overall death toll to 2436.

While giving the detail in a daily coronavirus situation, the chief minister said that 146 more people infected with CIVID-19 in the past 24 hours, raising the total number of cases to 131,115.

Murad Ali Shah maintained that 9292 samples were tested today, which detected 146 cases of COVID-19. Overall 107,375 tests have been conducted in the province since the first case emerged in the province in February. He said that 168 more COVID-19 patients recuperated during the past 24 hours in the province.

The chief minister said out of total 146 cases, 62 cases emerged in Karachi, adding that District South reported 32 cases, District Malir 9, East 6, Central 6 and 3 cases emerged in District West.

The number of confirmed coronavirus cases in the country is set to pass the grim 300,000 marks on Wednesday.

According to the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC), 426 more people tested positive for the disease in the past 24 hours, increasing the number of cases to 299,659. The novel coronavirus claimed nine more lives across the country, taking the death toll to 6,359.

The number of people recovering from the coronavirus increased 286,506 as 349 people recuperated during the past 24 hours. The number of active cases has reduced to 6,794.

During the past day, 22,830 samples were tested, out of which 426 turned out to be positive across the country. There have been over 2.8 million tests conducted so far.

The World Health Organization has urged the countries to invest more in public health to recover from the impacts of the coronavirus pandemic.

WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus in a media briefing in Geneva stressed that every country must invest in the public health sector to ensure a healthier and safer future and be better prepared for the next pandemic.
