The global death toll attributed to 2019 novel coronavirus has passed 4,000 today (Tuesday), according to the latest figures compiled by an international news agency.
The coronavirus has been spread to over 100 countries as the toll has reached 4,011 and more than 110,000 cases of infection.
The outbreak has disrupted the global stock market, travel and forced the cancellation of everything from conferences to sporting events.
However, in China, the cases have been constantly decreasing in recent weeks which shows that the country’s unprecedented lockdown measures appear to be working.
The 17 new deaths were all in central Hubei province, 16 in Wuhan, the capital of the province, bringing the country’s nationwide toll to 3,136.
It is the lowest daily toll since late January.
In this regard, Pakistan has confirmed 9 new cases of the deadly disease and bringing the tally up to 16.
