KARACHI: Chief Minister of Sindh Murad Ali Shah has announced a province-wide lockdown in order to curb the outbreak of the coronavirus.
In a statement, Murad Ali Shah has informed that the province will undergo a lockdown after midnight (12:00 A.M.) tonight (Sunday).
Murad Ali Shah further informed, “People will not be allowed to venture out of their homes unnecessarily under lockdown,” adding that only three persons will be allowed to travel in car if citizens needed to go to the hospital.
CM Murad further said that he had consulted with other politicians and Ulema as well as administrations following which the decision of lockdown came.
Murad Ali Shah also informed that all the government and private offices will remain closed and banned will be imposed on gatherings.
The Chief Minister added that law enforcement agencies (LEA) will be told that if someone is out due to a necessity they should be permitted, adding that if anyone steps out they should carry their CNIC.
‘Relief in utility bills’
CM Sindh also issued new directives for the utility companies in order to provide relief to the people of the province.
In this regard, QESCO, SEPCO and K-Electric have been asked to not collect current month’s bill from those consumers whose monthly bill is less than 5,000 and charge the amount in installments in the next 10 months.
He also announced the same instruction for Sui Southern Gas Company as well. Consumers, whose monthly bill is up to 2,000 should be allowed to pay the amount in 10 installments.
Earlier, the provincial government has requested the federal government for the deployment of military personnel in the province.
Sindh has remained the most affected province of the country from coronavirus, as it has reported the highest number of coronavirus cases so far.
