LOS ANGELES: The release of Christopher Nolan thriller ‘Tenet’ has been delayed for a second time due to the coronavirus outbreak.
‘Tenet’ is now scheduled to reach cinemas on Aug. 12, film studio Warner Bros. said in a statement, as most US cinemas remain closed to help prevent the spread of the pandemic while there has been a recent surge in coronavirus cases in several US states.
“Warner Bros. is committed to bringing Tenet to audiences in theaters, on the big screen, when exhibitors are ready and public health officials say it’s time,” a spokeswoman said.

‘Tenet’ is one of the big-budget film the industry is counting on to make a rebound this summer and attract audiences back to cinemas after a worldwide shutdown earlier this year.
The movie is a science-fiction spy drama starring John David Washington and Robert Pattinson although little has been revealed about the plot of the film. The film had originally been scheduled to release on July 17.

Nolan is best known for hits like ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ and ‘Inception’. Warner Bros. said it planned to keep ‘Tenet’ in cinemas “over an extended play period far beyond the norm” after release.
Another closely watched film, Walt Disney’s action epic ‘Mulan’ is set for July 24, though it might also be delayed. Big movie chains in the United States have planned for widespread reopenings in July but have not received permission to welcome back visitors.
