Amid a surge in fake e-challan alerts spreading online, Karachi Traffic Police have issued a public advisory reminding citizens to reject unverified payment links and to rely solely on official Sindh Police communications issued under the department’s name.
According to the traffic police spokesperson, fake messages are being spread through social media, WhatsApp, and other online platforms. clarifying that the only legitimate payment method is through the PSID system and that any message sent from private numbers in the name of Sindh Police should be treated as fake.
The spokesperson said that citizens should immediately reject all unverified payment methods, avoid clicking on unknown or suspicious links, and report misleading messages. Official messages from Sindh Police are issued only under the name “Sindh Police.”
He further said that if any citizen receives a message in the name of Sindh Police from a private name or personal number, it should be considered fake.
Earlier, reports emerged that the Sindh government is considering reducing the fine amount of challans for various violations after public backlash over the recently introduced e-ticketing system.
It should be noted that since its inauguration on Oct 27, the traffic police, using the new e-challan system, sent around 47,000 challans worth millions of rupees to registered owners of vehicles for various violations.
