A fundraising campaign has been launched to help Noor Mukadam’s family pay legal expenses for the murder trial.

An appeal has been launched on GoFundMe to help the family for the murder trial as both sides legal representation.

“Zahir Jaffar comes from an extremely well-connected and wealthy family. He and his parents have already secured legal representation from the best lawyers in the city, and they have the resources to fight this battle endlessly,” said the fundraising appeal.

“We, as friends of Noor, are launching this campaign so that as her family grieves their beautiful daughter, they do not have to carry the additional burden of worrying about how they will afford the legal representation they need for bringing Noor’s killer to justice.”

It added the trial will likely be a lengthy process, spread over multiple stages of litigation. “Our total has been calculated to account for all of this, and all proceeds raised through this platform will be used to directly fight Noor’s case.

It added that if any funds remain, they will be directed to aid victims of domestic violence. The donations can be sent on this GoFundMe page.

The Association of Former Ambassadors (AFA) has launched an appeal to pay for her legal expenses. In an appeal to former ambassadors, AFA General Secretary Sanaullah Mian said Noor’s father Shaukat Mukadam needs our continued support till the perpetrator is punished

He maintained that they must stand by him at all stages to ensure that justice is done without delay. The brutality of the crime has alarmed the otherwise complacent Islamabad and its bureaucracy, he added.

“We also know that there are at least 50 to 80 hearings of a murder case in the lower courts. Each hearing costs money and needs committed follow up by parents and friends. In this case, we are facing a powerful family that is determined to defend the brutal act of their son, despite public outrage.”

He maintained that Supreme Court advocate Syed Iqbal Hashmi had offered to assist in the case but the main lawyer would be hired by the bereaved family. He appealed to former ambassadors to contribute generously to AFA Fund Justice for Noor.
