Coronavirus situation may worsen after Eid: Sindh CM

KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has said that the situation of coronavirus in the province is very alarming.

A meeting of the Provincial Task Force on coronavirus was held under the chairmanship of Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah. Provincial Ministers Saeed Ghani, Jam Ikram, Legal Adviser Murtaza Wahab, Health Parliamentary Secretary Qasim Soomro, IG Sindh Mushtaq Mehr S Home Qazi Shahid Pervez, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Sindh Sajid Jamal Abro, Secretary Finance Hassan Naqvi, Health Secretary Kazim Jatoi, Dr. Bari, Dr. Sara, Dr. Qaiser Sajjad, Saeed Qureshi, Corps Five and representatives of Rangers and other organizations were present.

Briefing the meeting, Health Secretary Dr. Kazim Jatoi said that the rate of positive cases of coronavirus in the entire province has reached 10.3 percent. There were 21.58 cases in Karachi yesterday, while in Karachi Eastern District an average of 29 percent cases was reported last week.

Dr. Kazim Jatoi said that on average, 17 percent of cases were reported weekly in Korangi, 15 percent in Central and Southern Districts, and 10 percent in Malir and West. As of July 21, 307 patients had died due to coronavirus. 201 or 65 percent of patients died in hospitals, 70 patients or 23 percent died on ventilators and 36 patients or 12 percent died at home.

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah said that the situation of coronavirus in the province is very worrying. After Eid, the situation may worsen now. He said that the condition of 1002 patients is said to be critical.

The Chief Minister Sindh was informed that 457 patients have been examined, out of which 35 percent fell victim to the epidemic due to attendance at the gathering, 23 percent due to marriage ceremony while 17 percent due to going to market Going to the city and 3 percent of the workplace fell victim to coronavirus.
