ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan today (Tuesday) ordered action against officials of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) for allegedly ignoring the harassment complaints of a woman.
According to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), the woman had lodged a complaint with the Pakistan Citizen Portal after the FIA did not take action on her grievances.
The woman had lodged harassment complaints five times from December 16, 2019 to June 13, 2021. She quit her university employment and allegedly attempted suicide after multiple harassment complaints.
The PM Office said despite reopening the complaint twice, the FIA failed to fulfill its responsibility. Ordering DG FIA to suspend the concerned officials, PM Khan ordered an impartial inquiry into the incident and promised that she will get justice.
The Prime Minister stressed on the FIA to provide relief to the woman at the earliest, saying that no complaint should be ignored. In this regard, the Prime Minister’s Delivery Unit issued a letter to the DG FIA for an inquiry of the officials concerned. The inquiry report will be submitted to the prime minister on July 20, the Prime Minister’s Office added.
PM Imran wants action against AIG Hyderabad
A day earlier, it has emerged that Prime Minister Imran Khan had ordered to take action against Additional Inspector-General Hyderabad Dr Jameel Ahmed for financial and moral corruption, misuse of authority and undesirable activities.
The prime minister wrote a letter, dated May 5, to the Establishment Division in which he accused the AIG Hyderabad of misusing his authority. PM Imran Khan demanded action against the AIG Hyderabad as per the Civil Servants Roles.
The prime minister’s secretary, Mohammad Azam Khan, wrote that according to an information report presented to the premier, Ahmed was allegedly collecting Rs1.5 to Rs2 million per month from each of the 15 districts he headed.
