LAHORE: Chief Minister of Punjab Usman Buzdar has assured the supporters of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf’s (PTI) disgruntled leader Jahangir Tareen that he would address their concerns.
The development came after Punjab Chief Minister hosted a luncheon for the Tareen group. A seven-member delegation comprising Saeed Akbar Khan Nawani, Ajmal Cheema and Nauman Ahmad Langrial share their concerns with him.
Member of Punjab Assembly (MPA) Saeed Akbar Khan Nawani said, “We are one and will remain so. We have complete trust in your leadership. You are our chief minister and we have come to you for resolution of our issues.”
In response, Buzdar assured the delegation he would address them following which the lawmakers reposed their confidence in the chief minister. “The party is united under the leadership of Prime Minister Imran Khan and doors are open for you all. We will never do injustice to anyone,” he added.
Talking to journalists after the meeting, Saeed Nawani said the group discussed all issues with the chief minister, including the upcoming budget. “We stand with the government and are satisfied with the meeting,” he said.
Nawani further said the group wanted an impartial inquiry of cases against Jahangir Traeen and will accept its outcome.
Agreement reached
The ruling Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) and Jahangir Tareen group reached an agreement earlier on Thursday. Relevant sources informed that the agreement was reached after senior party leadership contacted the disgruntled leaders.
They further claimed that the Tareen group would not boycott the upcoming budget 2021-22 session and vote for the federal government. Sources quoted Jahangir Tareen as demanding that members of his group should not be subjected to vindictive tactics.
Separate group
A day earlier, Tareen had said his supporters had decided to form a separate group after the Punjab government initiated “revenge” against his supporters. However, Tareen denied reports he was forming a forward bloc in the party.
“We were part of the PTI, we are part of the PTI and we will continue to remain part of the PTI,” he announced. Tareen was accompanied by his supporters, who include Punjab government ministers and other lawmakers of the PTI.
Tareen said his “supporters” were standing with him as far as, what he referred to as the “fake” FIR against him is concerned, adding that the pro-Tareen group had met the prime minister.
