LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar today (Tuesday) has decided to vaccinate journalists against the novel coronavirus on a priority basis.
According to details, the Chief Minister directed the authorities to make arrangement for the vaccination of journalists against coronavirus. He also accepted the recommendations of the Cabinet Committee on Corona Control.
In this regard, the chief minister directed the health department to review arrangements regarding the establishment of vaccination centres in press clubs. “The vaccinations for journalists will begin after Eidul Fitr,” he added.
He has also directed the health department to take steps under a comprehensive strategy. With 9,125 deaths, Punjab reported the highest number of deaths. The coronavirus positivity ratio in Pakistan stands at 7.93%.
Earlier in the day, Punjab Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid said COVID-19 vaccination centres in Punjab will remain closed on the first and 2nd day of Eidul Fitr. “All the vaccination centres are currently operational and masses are being vaccinated against the pandemic,” he added.
The provincial health minister said after strict adherence to the COVID standard operating procedures (SOPs), vaccination is 2nd most important step to take.
