KARACHI: The Sindh Assembly again on Tuesday witnessed uproar and chaos when lawmakers belonging to the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaaf (PTI) beaten up the “rebel” party members during the session after their announcement to vote on the basis of their conscience in the Senate elections.

The situation took an ugly turn after rebel PTI leaders Karim Bakhsh Gabol, Shehryar Shar and Aslam Abro entered the Sindh Assembly. President PTI Karachi Khurram Sher Zaman and ‘rebel’ lawmakers traded insults and hurled abuses on each other.

Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) lawmakers also got involved to disengage the fighting lawmakers. Speaker Agha Siraj Durrani left the assembly after asking the parliamentarians to go back to their seats repeatedly. He has taken notice and ordered an inquiry in the chaos.

Meanwhile, Aslam Abro spoke to the media and said they have made it clear to everyone that they will not vote along the party lines. “Senate tickets were sold and that they do not agree with the selection of Saifullah Abro and Faisal Vawda,” he added.

Speaking to newsmen outside the assembly, Opposition Leader Haleem Adil Sheikh accused that PPP leaders have abducted Shehryar Shar and Aslam Abro and tried to kidnap Karim Gabol.

Accusing PPP MPAs Burhan Chandio and Taimoor Talpur, Haleem Adil Sheikh threatened to lodge a First Information Report (FIR) if the situation continues to remain violent.

‘Karim Baksh Gabol’

Another video surfaced in which Karim Baksh was heard saying that he doesn’t want to vote for the candidate of the PPP. “PPP members are trying to kidnap me and forcing me to vote for their candidate. I don’t want to vote in their favour,” he added.

However, on Monday, Karim Baksh categorically said that he will not vote for PTI’s candidates in the Senate polls. He claimed that he has heard that the party has given tickets to people after receiving money, adding that his conscience doesn’t allow him to vote for such candidates.
