LAHORE: Pakistan all-rounder Faheem Ashraf on Friday has asserted that the players have learned from the mistakes in the first Test against New Zealand and will walk into the Hagley Oval with better confidence.
“We will not repeat the mistakes of the first Test. The second Test will be a new match and we will be prepared for that challenge,” the all-rounder said while talking to Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) media panel.
Faheem further said that conditions at Christchurch will be different in the second Test as compared to the first Test at Mount Maunganui. “Players are training in accordance with the conditions that they will face in Christchurch,” he informed.
“The last match of the tour is very important for Pakistan and all the players want to end the tour with a win,” he added. Faheem helped Pakistan in both the batting and bowling during the first Test, where his first innings heroics helped the Men in Green avoid a nearly certain follow-on.
“During the training session, I was bowling keeping in mind the conditions in Christchurch. We made a few mistakes during the first Test when New Zealand came in to bat first for their first innings. The bowlers had a chat about it,” he remarked.
He concluded that head coach Misbahul Haq has also helped the bowlers identify the mistakes which they made during the first Test. It should be noted that bowling coach Waqar Younis is currently at home after he requested leave to be with his family.
