KARACHI: Akhtar Ali Sheikh has taken charge as Municipal Commissioner DMC East after Sindh Local Government Department suspended Municipal Commissioner Mustafa Soomro on the charges of corruption.
MM News TV had published the news of corruption of Municipal Commissioner DMC South Wasim Mustafa Soomro on which action was taken. Akhtar Ali Sheikh has also served as Municipal Commissioner East twice before.
Addressing a meeting of officers after taking charge, he said, “I have been in the eastern district for a long time, so I am well aware of the problems. I will try my best to work as a team to ensure that the people of the district could get better facilities”, he added.
In this regard, the services of Administrator Muhammad Ali Shah were also appreciated whose efforts are gradually improving the local body services in the district. He said that “if every department plays its full role for the betterment of the district, many local body issues would be addressed,” he added.
New Municipal Commissioner DMC East Akhtar Ali Sheikh said: “based on my experience of deployment in the Municipality, the officers and employees in DMC East understand their duties well and try to play their role in the development of the district”.
On this occasion, he was given a full briefing by the officers on the performance of the departments and the problems faced by them, on which he said that each department should perform its duties within the legal framework.
