ISLAMABAD: Federal information minister Shibli Faraz has alleged that the agenda of Pakistan Peoples Party and this new alliance of the opposition parties were just to destabilize the government and create hurdles in its work.
Addressing a press conference today, the minister riticised the leadership of the PDM, accusing it of trying to create hurdles in the progress and development of the country.
The federal minister said the provincial government Sindh forced the citizenry into buying expensive wheat flour whereas if it had released the provincial stocks, things would have been better.
He alleged that the Sindh government created an artificial crisis and said shortages of sugar and wheat were created by the PPP in the province.
The minister said although the federal officials want to negotiate a support price for farmers, PPP wants to cash in on it for political gains and claimed that since PPP didn’t release its stocks of wheat, that to create a crisis, what it did qualifies as hoarding.
The Pakistan Tehreek e Insaaf leader said, “PPP is responsible for the disruption in the supply chain of essential commodities in the province.”
These opposition leaders did nothing when they were in power, he said, adding that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) had ruled the country for a long time, but failed to improve the quality of life in the country.
Talking to the country’s economy, the minister claimed the national economy has revived with exports and growth showing promising upward trends and government planning to facilitate industrialists with concessions in power tariffs.
He said electric prices were higher owing to agreements signed by earlier governments which factored in greater costs of production. However, he said, things are changing, and now the small and medium industries are afforded up to 25 percent discount.
Pakistani economy fared better compared with other countries in the midst of COVID-19 pandemic and the economic policies rolled out supported small and medium enterprises to develop which resulted in job creation, he added.
