KARACHI: Federal Science and Technology Minister Fawad Chaudhry has asserted that the majority of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leaders were not supporting their supremo Nawaz Sharif’s ‘anti-state’ narrative.
Addressing a press conference in Karachi today (Sunday), Fawad Chaudhry said, “Nearly 70 percent of PML-N members are not standing by Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz’s narrative of targeting state institutions.”
Referring to disgruntled PML-N’s Punjab MPAs, Fawad expressed hope that soon more party lawmakers will also show courage and reject the narrative of Nawaz Sharif.
“Nawaz Sharif is criticising state institutions just to protect his looted money,” he said, adding that Nawaz has been visiting restaurants regularly in London and he should return back to Pakistan morally.
He also urged the PML-N leadership to refrain from targeting state institutions, saying that it is against the national interest. “Government is trying to bring back Nawaz Sharif,” Fawad added.
Talking about Pakistan Democratic Movement, Fawad Chaudhry claimed that the Opposition’s PDM was more like the ‘Pakistan incitement movement’ and is about to fizzle out before taking off.
“This movement is nearing its end before taking off. Their narrative is so flawed it’s full of holes. No one believes in it,” the minister remarked.
Fawad further said that it was sad to witness that Benazir Bhutto’s party has to work under Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s leadership. “PPP supporters must not like the fact that the party has to make do with the killers of Benazir Bhutto,” he added.
The minister also said that it was Pakistan’s misfortune that PML-N and PPP today have to seek the support of extremist groups for their politics”
