LAHORE: Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) Lahore has unearthed billions of rupees scam in the registration of bogus auctioned vehicles.
The anti-corruption department has lodged a case against three excise and taxation officials over their alleged involvement in fake registration of vehicles. Those booked in the case include ETO Qari Ghulam Rasool, Inspector Waheed Miyo and Qadeer MTC.
According to the ACE, these officials in connivance with a private agent and Tik Tok star Khurram Gujjar registered around 500 vehicles on bogus auctioned vouchers and benefitted the agent and his facilitators.
They fraudulently changed the series of numbers from LEK to LWN and registered heavy vehicles like loaders on the number of motorbikes.
An ACE official said the accused registered as many as 465 vehicles on fake vouchers. More than 30,000 loader trucks and buses with fake registration numbers are available in the market.
The raids are being conducted to arrest those involved in this massive financial crime. Meanwhile, further investigation is going on to determine the role of others nominated in the source report by ACE.
