KARACHI: The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) today (Friday) continued nullifying the gains made in the first half of this month as the KSE-100 index closed the session at 41,701.23 after going down by 105.14 points.
After a slow start, the benchmark KSE 100 index touched an intraday high of 42,100.73 (294.36 points) in the second half of the session. The index failed to sustain gains and dropped to day’s low of 41,601.94 losing 204.43 points.
It ended lower by 105.14 points at 41,701.23. The KMI 30 index also declined by 373.21 points closing at 66,558.61, while the KSE All Share index managed to gain 38.77 pts settling at 29,636.11.
It means the gains earlier in September have now been reduced to 590.30 points after the index reached the level of 42,647.35 on September 10. The market closed the previous month at 41,110.93 on August 31.
Overall market volumes remained stable from last session at 434.03 million shares. Hascol Petroleum Limited (HASCOL +3.80%), Unity Foods Limited (UNITY -0.44%) and Byco Petroleum Pakistan Limited (BYCO +9.99%) all led the volume chart.
Sectors wiping the gains of KSE 100 index included Cement sector (85.38 points), Technology and Communication sector (21.57 points) and the Insurance sector (16.22 points). Lucky Cement Limited (LUCK 37.87 points), United Bank Limited (UBL 21.67 points) and TRG Pakistan Limited (TRG 21.44 points) were top negative contributors.
